Agriculture in Coldstream

 
 
 

The ALR ( Agricultural Land Reserve) in Coldstream was designated on March 15th, 1974 as part of the Regional District of the North Okanagan’s ALR Plan.


Approximately 57% of Coldstream’s Land base is within the ALR and accounts for about 5.3% of the land in the Agricultural Land Reserve within the Regional District of the North Okanagan.


Coldstream Ranch represents 33% of the land in the District of Coldstream.


58% of the land in the ALR in Coldstream is part of the Coldstream Ranch.

Coldstream has an Agricultural Advisory Committee that meets for two hours, once per month,  on the second Tuesday of the month,  at 7:00 pm at the Municipal Hall. The meetings are public and everyone is welcome to come and watch. Agenda’s  and Minutes of previous meetings are available on the Coldstream District website.


Right now the Committee is working on incorporating the recommendations and proposed bylaws from the Agricultural Plan into the Official Community Plan. 


Monday June 27th, 2011 at 6:00 pm in the Coldstream Municipal Hall (9901 Kalamalka Lake Rd) there will be a Public Hearing on the proposed amendments to the Official Community Plan that have been proposed based on the new Agricultural Plan.
